IN PERSON Community Inclusion, Intersectionality, and Rights

May 9 @ 10:00 am - 4:00 pm

$150 – $200

Date: May 9th 10AM – 4PM
Members $150 / Non Members $200

Community inclusion is not simply a process of going out into the community and walking around the mall.  The ideas go far beyond that.  The idea is tied to intersectionality and ableism, terms in the disability field that are very important and very basic.  This class will focus on community inclusion and the concepts behind it.  We will discuss how to truly make inclusion effective and at the same time address intersectionality and the promotion of rights and a person’s place and acceptance in society.
This is not a lecture, but rather a practical discussion of how to support people with disabilities more effectively.  We will discuss the actual ideas behind community inclusion and engagement.  What can programs do to truly support the person?  What are the best approaches and ways to maximize our efforts?  We will offer scenarios and planning tools to help attendees implement positive changes at their program.
Cancellation Policy: Registrations for Single day classes canceled with less than 24 hours notice will not be refunded.  Registrations for Multi-day classes canceled with less than 48 hours notice will not be refunded.  No shows will be charged the full registration fee.
