Pioneer in Self-Advocacy

The Staten Island Advance has announced that community input is desired on the naming of new ferries that will be added to the fleet in the coming years.

We are asking Mayor Bill de Blasio and the Department of Transportation to name one of the three new Staten Island Ferry boats after Bernard Carabello, a pioneer in self-advocacy for people with intellectual and other developmental disabilities.

Please visit our petition to learn more about Bernard's efforts to advocate for disability rights, and to teach new generations to do the same:

Here are a few ways you can show your support:

  • Add your name to the petition. Every name counts!

  • Add a comment to the petition, and let others know what Bernard's lifelong advocacy has meant to you.

  • Share this petition via social media, to spread the word!

Thank you for your consideration.
