SUMMARY:FREE Seizure Recognition and First Aid Certification
DESCRIPTION:FREE Seizure Recognition and First-Aid Certification \nTWO OPPORTUNITIES TO JOIN!  PICK EITHER SESSION! \nNovember 18th 10 am-12 pm OR 2 pm-4 pm \nONLINE VIA ZOOM \npresented by Janet Romeo\, Epilepsy Foundation Long Island\, and Logan Devlin\, Epilepsy Foundation Metro New York \nThis training is intended to complement but not replace any required OPWDD trainings on this topic. \nWhy Seizure First Aid? \nEpilepsy\, also known as seizure disorder\, is a neurological condition characterized by recurrent\, unprovoked seizures. A seizure results from a sudden surge of electrical activity in the brain\, comes in many forms\, and can affect consciousness\, movement\, and behavior. Just over one percent of the general population has epilepsy\, but in the intellectually disabled population\, that incidence can rise to as high as forty percent. \nSeizures can happen anywhere and at any time. Knowing how to help someone during a seizure can make a difference and save a life. The Seizure Recognition and First Aid Certification training provides information to increase your knowledge\, skills\, and confidence in recognizing seizures and safely administering first aid. \nWhat You Will Learn \n\nHow to recognize the signs of different seizure types\nHow to respond with proper seizure first aid protocol\nWhen to call for help – what constitutes an emergency\n\nRegister HERE
