I’m pleased to announce that Roger Bearden has been appointed to the position of Executive Deputy Commissioner for the Office for People With Developmental Disabilities (OPWDD). Prior to his appointment, Roger had been serving as Acting Executive Deputy Commissioner.
Roger has nearly twenty years of experience representing, advocating, and providing oversight for the services and rights of people with disabilities. Throughout his career, Roger has demonstrated his commitment to the people that we support and their families. He has spent the past 8 years working for New York State in various roles, most notably contributing to the development of New York’s Olmstead Plan.
Roger received his Bachelor of Arts from Brown University in International Relations and his law degree from Harvard Law School.
