Due to a lack of knowledge and opportunities, individuals in the industry may have inadequate means of developing meaningful relationships outside of their core providers and support systems. This can make developing friendships difficult and dating an insurmountable feat. The need to love and be loved is every individual’s right, but their pursuit can be hampered by a system that may not feel comfortable answering direct questions about love and relationships. With this session, we will explore healthy conversations you can have with individuals, whether they wish to discuss friendships, relationships, and/or dating. Avenues like physical intimacy will also be explored, with options for staff who may be uncomfortable with discussing such topics.
Target Audience: DSPs and all staff that provide direct supports to individuals. NOTE – This course is not a guide on how to perform an individual consent evaluation and is not geared toward Behavior Specialists and/or Psychologists.
Training/Workshop Objectives:
o Offering Praise and Improving Self-Esteem
